How can you help increase the number of in-demand workers with literacy and skills in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields?
What can your company do to ensure that every young person has a teacher who opens the doors of discovery to STEM?
Did you know that a single teacher can positively influence many students each year – and thousands over the course of a career? The Wade Institute for Science Education reaches over 1,000 educators each year with high quality professional development programs.
Why Partner with the Wade Institute?
For over 30 years, the Wade Institute has been a leader in providing inquiry-based, hands-on STEM professional development for elementary, middle and high school teachers in Massachusetts.
In order to successfully teach inquiry-based science, teachers need to be able to take on the viewpoint of the student as well as the educator. Wade Institute programs achieve this by providing inspiring, informative activities and learning environments for teachers to gain new skills and develop inquiry-based curricula for their students.
The Wade Institute promotes inquiry-based learning because it models the scientific process and is a particularly effective way to teach critical thinking skills. Instead of just presenting the facts, inquiry-based learning uses questions, problems and scenarios to help students learn through their own exploration and investigations.
Our programs work. We employ research-based best practices in professional development and conduct rigorous evaluation of our programs to ensure that they are effective and meet the needs of educators, students and schools. Our programs are aligned with the MA revised Science and Technology/Engineering Standards and incorporate the Science and Engineering Practices.
It all starts with one great teacher. By partnering with the Wade Institute, you can help provide resources, scholarships and more to teachers who are shaping the next generation of scientists, engineers and mathematicians in Massachusetts.
